Report: Dodgers close to acquiring Marmol

The Chicago Cubs are close to reaching agreement on a trade that would send pitcher Carlos Marmol to the Los Angeles Dodgers, ESPN Chicago reported Monday.

The Cubs designated Marmol for assignment on June 25, giving the Cubs 10 days to trade him or release him.

Marmol has a limited no-trade clause with six teams, including the Dodgers, so Marmol could block the trade if he wishes.

It is not known what the Dodgers are offering in the trade.

Marmol is owed more than $5 million on his $9.8 million salary for this season.

Marmol, 30, went 2-4 with a 5.86 ERA in 31 relief appearances this season.
