Report: Chris Singleton reaches agreement with Pacers
Chris Singleton has committed to sign with the Indiana Pacers, according to David Pick of Eurobasket. Singleton, the No. 18 pick of the 2011 draft, spent the last three years with the Washington Wizards. The team declined to pick up his fourth-year option, making him a free agent.
The Pacers desperatedly needed help on the wing after losing Lance Stephenson in free agency and Paul George to injury. Singleton obviously won't even begin to make up for their absence, but he can sop up some minutes at small forward. Yahoo Sports reported back in July that Indiana had interest in him, as did the Miami Heat.
The 6-foot-9 Singleton hasn't found his niche in the NBA, and his playing time in Washington dropped significantly after his rookie season. He has career averages of 4.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 17.6 minutes per game. He only suited up for the Wizards 25 times last year, and he wasn't a part of their rotation in the playoffs.
The Pacers give Singleton a good opportunity to prove his worth. If he can play solid defense for head coach Frank Vogel, he should be able to stay on the floor.
