Red Wings sign Huskins to a one-year deal

Free-agent defenseman Kent Huskins signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Red Wings, the team announced.

Huskins, 33, had two goals and five assists in 25 games with the St. Louis Blues last season, and appeared in one Stanley Cup Playoff game for them.

A sixth-round pick by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1998 NHL Draft, Huskins totaled 67 points in 299 NHL games with the Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks and Blues. He was a member of the Ducks' Stanley Cup championship team in 2007.
