Rashean Mathis to visit Lions

The Detroit Lions will host former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Rashean Mathis today, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Mathis, who turns 33 later this month, spent a decade in Jacksonville as one of the Jaguars' mainstays on defense, picking off 30 passes.

However, the Jaguars elected not to bring him back as they rebuild under new coach Gus Bradley and general manager Dave Caldwell.

The Lions, meanwhile, seem to be perpetually looking for help in the secondary, and while Mathis may be a little long in the tooth, he might have enough left to help in Detroit if he impresses in his workout today.
