Rangers release Lowe; sign Teahen

The Texas Rangers released pitcher Derek Lowe on Thursday, and signed infielder Mark Teahen to a minor-league contract.

Lowe, 39, cleared waivers and received his unconditional release. The righty posted a 9.00 ERA in 13 innings this season, and chose not to accept an assignment to Triple-A Round Rock.

Teahen became a free agent on Monday after being released by the Arizona Diamondbacks. He batted .211 in 22 games at Triple-A Reno.
