Rangers' Darvish questionable for Thursday start

The injury epidemic that has devastated the Texas Rangers' rotation continues to rage.

The latest victim: right-hander Yu Darvish.

Darvish could miss his scheduled turn Thursday due to tightness in his right quadriceps that he experienced during a throwing session Tuesday.

The discomfort arose while Darvish was doing his usual between-starts work in the bullpen. He stopped about halfway through the exercise and repeatedly flexed the leg. Darvish resumed and threw 40 pitches as scheduled but bypassed his normal post-workout running went to the clubhouse for treatment.

Darvish is scheduled to start Thursday against Minnesota. The club will re-evaluate Darvish on Wednesday and then make a decision about the start.

"It's no issue," manager Ron Washington said. "He'll get out there (Wednesday) and work, and we'll see where it is and how he comes through it."

Darvish made his last start on Friday at Toronto. He twice had to run hard on the Rogers Centre artificial turf to take throws at first base. If Darvish is deemed unavailable, right-hander Roy Oswalt likely would be the replacement. Oswalt threw 62 pitches in 4 2/3 innings on Saturday.
