Predators claim Boychuk

The Nashville Predators claimed forward Zach Boychuk on waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins and placed forward Brandon Yip on injured reserve, team general manager David Poile announced Tuesday.

Boychuk, 23, hasn't scored in eight NHL games with the Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes in 2012-13. In 80 career NHL contests since 2008-09, he has seven goals and 11 assists. He began this season with Carolina's primary developmental affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, and had 16 goals and 16 assists in 37 games.
