Pistons 109, 76ers 101
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Greg Monroe notched his 36th double-double with 27 points and 16 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons won their fourth straight by downing the Philadelphia 76ers 109-101 at The Palace on Monday.
Will Bynum had 22 points and six assists and Kyle Singler contributed 16 points for the Pistons (29-52) in their home finale. Brandon Knight chipped in 12 points.
Detroit's win streak matches its season high. It also had a four-game streak in late December and early January.
Dorell Wright supplied 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists off the bench for the 76ers (33-48), who had won two straight. Jrue Holiday had 14 points and Spencer Hawes and Evan Turner added 13 apiece.
Both teams complete their seasons with road games on Wednesday.
Singler scored 11 third-quarter points as the Pistons led by as much as 10. He made a 3-pointer and fast-break dunk on back-to-back possessions, giving Detroit a 77-71 advantage. Bynum's shot from just inside the 3-point line stretched the lead to 81-71 in the final minute of the quarter and the lead was nine, 84-75, heading into the fourth.
Monroe's 3-point play with 10:10 left made the score 89-75. The Sixers never got closer than seven the rest of the way.
Hawes and Thaddeus Young had 11 points apiece as the Sixers led 54-51 at halftime.
NOTES: Amid reports that he will resign after the season, Sixers coach Doug Collins did not take questions about his future prior to the game. He did talk about his team's demeanor as the season winds down. "When you're coming down the stretch of a season like this, when you've had a lot of injuries and things didn't go the way you'd like them to go, what's the hope of next year?" he said. "I think there's some good potential here with some young guys and I think our guys have shown they want to win." ... Pistons owner Tom Gores, who hasn't spoken to the media since opening night, said the futures of coach Lawrence Frank and president of basketball operations Joe Dumars were under evaluation. "We're assessing everything fast," Gores said. "It's a critical time for the franchise. It's important to have a good management team in place. We're going to do it quickly but thoroughly." ... Pistons guard Jose Calderon missed his fourth straight game with a strained right triceps. ... Entering Monday, Sixers All-Star Holiday was shooting 36.9 percent from the field since March, a span of 24 games.
