Philadelphia Eagles should look towards offense during draft

Despite the Philadelphia Eagles poor season, there is unlikely to be an immediate payoff at the end of the rainbow. Having traded this year’s first round pick away to the Cleveland Browns last year in the trade that got the Eagles Carson Wentz, Philly’s 2017 first round pick will be lower than expected. Rather than being in the top ten, Philadelphia will be picking in the mid-teens.

Luckily for the Eagles, this draft is likely to provide some major levels of talent at many positions. This includes positions across the offense. This is simply great news for the Eagles considering all their areas of need at the present. Struggling for most of this season on the offensive side of the ball, Philly needs to make sure they focus on addressing these offensive positions during the draft.

Area of need include the offensive line, running back, and wide receiver. In short, Philadelphia needs to add talented players at every position but quarterback and tight end. Will this fix the team’s problems, well that’s a long explanation that would take me years to type out. Quite simply, how much do we trust the front office of this team.

If you answered that question with a smile on your face and joy in your head, then never fear, we will be back in the playoffs as soon as next season. Now, those of you that chose this answer, I do ask kindly that you leave now, you aren’t going to really like the next couple of paragraphs. There you go, out the door now. Goodnight!

Are they gone? Phew, that was a close one. It’s better now that the naive ones left. To me, this draft could go a bunch of different ways. If the team can strike it rich on a bunch — and I mean a bunch — of picks, we could have a respectable season next year. However, given this teams drafting history, I have my doubts.

That said, I still think that the Philadelphia Eagles need to focus on offense during this draft. It is their most pressing area of need. However, no matter where the team focuses, I still feel that we are at least two years away from a potential playoff push. That two years, that is also a minimum, not a maximum.
