Penguins' Letang goes back on IR

The Pittsburgh Penguins returned Kris Letang to injured reserve on Wednesday after he reportedly suffered a broken toe in Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Montreal.

Letang was just activated from IR on Tuesday after missing four games because of a lower-body injury. The NHL's top-scoring defenseman played more than 24 minutes against the Canadiens but said he was not feeling up to par after the first period.

To take his place on the roster, the Penguins recalled defenseman Simon Despres from the American Hockey League. Despres, 21, has 10 points for Pittsburgh this season.

Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury also exited Tuesday's game because of injury. He's dealing with a sore back that caused him to miss the third period.
