Pelini dismisses two after altercation

Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini has kicked two freshman defenders off the team after an alleged altercation with another sophomore defender at a party last week.

Freshman defensive end Ernest Suttles and redshirt freshman linebacker Thomas Brown have been dismissed from the program and will not be eligible to return,CBSSports.com reported on Thursday.

Huskers Illustrated reported that sophomore linebacker David Santos tried to break up a fight between Suttles and Brown and was struck in head with a bottle. Suttles was charged with misdemeanor assault in the incident.

Suttles, from Tampa, Fla., was a three-star member of the Huskers' 2013 recruiting class, choosing Nebraska over Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and West Virginia.

In February, Pelini said he thought the true freshman would find a role on the defense and see considerable playing time in 2013.

If not for an injury, Brown would have played in 2012 as a true freshman, according to Omaha.com. But the injury forced him to redshirt. In practice, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker was said to be tenacious and was being counted on to fill the "Buck" position this season.
