Pau Gasol, Jimmy Butler carry Bulls over Lakers

Pau Gasol recorded his 16th double-double this season, scoring 23 points and registering 13 rebounds, to help the Chicago Bulls pummel the Los Angeles Lakers, 113-93. The Bulls shot 42-86 (48.8%) from the field and controlled the offensive glass with 20 rebounds. Chicago (20-9) is now on a five-game winning streak.

Gasol went 9-14, in a good performance. Chicago also got solid performances from Jimmy Butler with 21 points and six rebounds, Derrick Rose with 20 points and six assists, and Aaron Brooks with 13 points and six assists. On 6-18 shooting (2-6 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 5-6 from the free throw line, Wesley Johnson scored 19 points for Los Angeles in the loss. He also tallied nine rebounds. Jordan Hill chipped in 16 points and six rebounds and Ed Davis finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Los Angeles (9-20) couldn't get consecutive victories after beating Golden State on Tuesday.

Coming up next, the Bulls play the New Orleans Pelicans, who are 14-14 on the year. The Lakers match up with the Dallas Mavericks, currently 20-10 this season. The Lakers have a 0-1 record against Dallas this season.
