NHL suspends Dallas' Garbutt for five games
Dallas Stars forward Ryan Garbutt was suspended five games without pay for charging Ducks forward Dustin Penner in a game Sunday in Anaheim, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Wednesday.
According to a report on NHL.com, Garbutt will lose nearly $15,000 in salary due to the suspension. The money goes into the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
No penalty was assessed on the play, which occurred at 6:28 of the first period in Sunday's game.
