NHL roundup: Howard agrees to 6-year extension

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard has agreed to a six-year contract extension with the team.

Reports surfaced last week that a deal valued at $31.8 million was close, and the team made the official announcement Tuesday via twitter.

Howard, 29, is in the final year of a two-year, $4.5 million contract. An all-star last season, Howard has won at least 35 games in three straight seasons. He is 16-12-4 with a 2.41 goals-against average and .917 save percentage this season.

---The game between the Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins, originally scheduled for Monday night, has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 28, at TD Garden in Boston. The game will start at 7 p.m. ET.

The game was postponed because of the bomb explosions that killed three people during the Boston Marathon on Monday.

--- St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie underwent surgery on his ankle and is listed as week-to-week by the team. Oshie, 26, likely wouldn't be available unless the Blues at least make the playoffs.

---The Nashville Predators reassigned forwards Daniel Bang and Austin Watson and defenseman Mattias Ekholm to Milwaukee of the American Hockey League.

---The Tampa Bay Lightning reassigned forward JT Wyman to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

---Center Mikhail Grigorenko returned to the Baffalo Sabres after the rookie completed his junior season in Quebec. Grigorenko practiced with the Sabres on Tuesday after being formally added to their roster.

---Joffrey Lupul of the Toronto Maple Leafs is expected to play on Tuesday after being out with a concussion since April 4, the Washington Times reported.
