The Penguins did not any help from their top players as Kessel, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin had quiet nights in a one-sided 4-0 rout of the Toronto Maple Leafs. - - - Stars 4, Sharks 3 Dallas winger Antoine Roussel had a goal and two assists and goaltender Antti Niemi stopped 26 of 29 shots as the Stars defeated the San Jose Sharks 4-3 at American Airlines Center. Roussel scored the game-winner with 6:27 remaining in regulation by getting his stick on a wrist shot by defenseman John Klingberg. Roussel's redirect hit the pads of Sharks goalie Alex Stalock and then deflected in off Roussel's right skate. - - - Kings 4, Predators 3 (overtime) By Dennis Bernstein, The Sports Xchange Kings center Jeff Carter scored at 4:42 of overtime to give Los Angeles a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators. The Kings ran their winning streak to seven games after Carter took a long lead pass from Drew Doughty, waited for goaltender Pekka Rinne to move and then beat him high with a wrist shot. - - - Devils 3, Islanders 2 (shootout) Devils winger Mike Cammalleri scored in the shootout to lead New Jersey to a 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders at the Prudential Center. New Jersey improved to 6-4-1 with their fifth win in six games. Goaltender Cory Schneider stopped 24 of 26 shots. - - - Bruins 3, Lightning 1 Brett Connolly scored the go-ahead goal for the Boston Bruins in a 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Connolly gave Boston (6-3-1) their fifth straight road win with a wrist shot that went above the stick of Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop that give the Bruins a 2-1 lead at 5:54 in the third period. Brad Marchand added an empty-net goal with 1:10 remaining. - - - Jets 3, Blue Jackets 2 A three-goal first period destroyed the home debut of Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella and sent the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-2 win in Nationwide Arena. Blake Wheeler and Bryan Little each had a goal and an assist for the Jets, while Andrew Copp scored the first goal of his NHL career. Jets goaltender Ondrej Pavelec had an easy night, needing only 19 saves, 10 in the second period, for the victory. - - - Red Wings 5, Senators 3 The Detroit Red Wings exacted some revenge from a loss 24 hours earlier when they routed the Ottawa Senators 5-3 at Canadian Tire Centre. Five Red Wings enjoyed multi-point games in the victory, which came on the heels of the Senators' 3-1 win at Joe Louis Arena on Friday. Scoring the goals for Detroit (5-5-1) were wingers Tomas Tartar, Gustav Nyqvist and Dylan Larkin, and defensemen Jonathan Ericsson and Danny DeKeyser. - - - Capitals 2, Panthers 1 (overtime) Evgeny Kuznetsov scored with 1:16 left in overtime to lead the Washington Capitals to a 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers at the BB&T Center. Kuznetsov beat Panthers goalie Al Montoya between his pads for his fifth goal of the season. Montoya got his stick on the puck but could not stop it from getting past him. - - - Blues 3, Wild 2 (overtime) David Backes scored with 34 seconds left in overtime to give the St. Louis Blues a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild. Backes, who had not scored in the Blues' first 10 games, got his second goal of the game off a pass from Ty Rattie. The win improved the Blues' record at home this season to 4-0-1. - - - Flames 5, Oilers 4 Flames winger Michael Frolik scored his third goal of the game, a fluke from behind the net with 8.7 seconds left in regulation, to lift the Calgary Flames to a 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers fought back to tie it on third-period goals from Ted Purcell and Leon Draisaitl before the back-breaking stunner on goalie Cam Talbot brought Rexall Place to stunned silence.
