NBA roundup: Shaw, Snyder among candidates for Charlotte coaching job

More candidates might be in line to interview for the Charlotte Bobcats' coaching vacancy.

The Bobcats apparently will meet with Indiana Pacers assistant Brian Shaw and Los Angeles Lakers assistant Quin Snyder in the coming weeks, ESPN The Magazine reported.

After finishing the season with a 7-59 record and the worst winning percentage in NBA history (.106), the Bobcats are looking to replace Paul Silas, whose contract was not renewed.

Reports indicate that the Bobcats and owner Michael Jordan have previously interviewed a list of candidates that includes Jerry Sloan, Patrick Ewing, Nate McMillan and Silas' son, Stephen.

Shaw and Snyder are hot, young candidates. Shaw was with the Los Angeles Lakers and Phil Jackson before joining the Pacers. Snyder has worked with the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers.

---Injured Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh worked out lightly Sunday in American Airlines Arena, but coach Eric Spoelstra said Monday that it's too early to tell when the All-Star will return.

Bosh strained abdominal muscles two weeks ago and the Heat were without his services after Game 1 of an Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Indiana Pacers.

"I wouldn't over-read into his workout," Spoelstra said during Monday's shootaround before Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics. "We'll continue to re-evaluate him every day. He'll continue to do his rehab. When he starts legitimate basketball work, I'll pay attention a little more."

--- Stan Van Gundy, who was fired as coach of the Magic recently, may spend some time away from basketball, the New York Daily News reported.

Charlotte reportedly was interested in talking to Van Gundy about its coaching vacancy, but Van Gundy wants to take a year off and come back to coach in 2013-14.
