NBA roundup: NBA investigating Wade for elbow

The NBA is taking a closer look at an errant elbow thrown by Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade that caught Indiana Pacers guard Lance Stephenson in the head during Friday's Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.

After committing a fourth-quarter turnover, Wade was running back on defense when he attempted to avoid Stephenson by jumping past him. Instead, Wade's elbow collided with the Pacers guard's head.

While some are calling for Wade to be punished, it is not clear if he threw the elbow deliberately.

---The Toronto Raptors are closer to hiring Denver Nuggets general manager Masai Ujiri to head their front office.

Ujiri was recently named the NBA's Executive of the Year after the Nuggets won 57 games and received the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference playoffs.

Toronto also had interest in Phil Jackson and sought permission to interview Indiana Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard.

---Former Phoenix Suns coach Alvin Gentry is a candidate for the Los Angeles Clippers head coaching job, ESPN Los Angeles reported.

"If you look at that job, it's probably the best one out there," he said of the Clippers' vacancy Thursday. "When you take into consideration the talent level that they have and what they did this year."

The Clippers went 56-26 and received the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference playoffs, but fired coach Vinnie Del Negro after getting ousted in the first round.
