NBA roundup: Mayor tells commissioner Seattle wants an NBA team
As the team formerly known as the Seattle SuperSonics prepares to host the first two games of the NBA Finals, Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn met with league commissioner David Stern to let him know the city wants to bring pro basketball back to Washington.
McGinn met with Stern Monday, the day before the NBA Finals began in Oklahoma City. The team now known as the Thunder moved to Oklahoma from Seattle in 2008.
Seattle City Council and King County Council received a $500 million stadium development proposal for a new building near Safeco Field, home of the Mariners, and CenturyLink Field (Seahawks). McGinn is a supporter of the plan but business owners have been resistant because of concerns about heavier traffic keeping people from coming to the area.
The WNBA's Seattle Storm plays at Key Arena, but the venue is considered antiquated relative to NBA arenas.
---Former Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan, Indiana Pacers assistant Brian Shaw and Los Angeles Lakers assistant Quin Snyder are the three finalists for the Charlotte Bobcats' head coaching vacancy, the Charlotte Observer reported.
The Bobcats are planning to interview Shaw and Snyder a second time so they can talk with Bobcats owner Michael Jordan, who was present when Slaon was interviewed last week.

---Metta World Peace of the Los Angeles Lakers will make his acting debut in a movie adaptation of Nancy Grace's novel "The Eleventh Victim," which is scheduled to premier in the fall on the Lifetime Channel. World Peace will play Garlan Fincher, a Georgia detective.
