NBA Roundup: Granger back with Pacers, Bynum practices, Casspi out
Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger was due to make his season debut Saturday, Philadelphia 76ers center Andrew Bynum took part in his first scrimmage and Cleveland Cavaliers forward Omri Casspi went to the hospital to be examined for abdominal pain.
After missing the entire season to date with a knee injury, Granger was expected to make his season debut Saturday night against the Detroit Pistons, according to the Indianapolis Star. Granger led the team in scoring at 18.7 points per game last season.
As for Bynum, he participated in a full 5-on-5 scrimmage for the first time this season on Friday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. He told reporters earlier in the week that he would start practicing in another week or two. Bynum is recovering from bone bruises and weakened cartilage in both knees.
And Casspi was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center for evaluation of acute abdominal pain. He was not expected to play Saturday against the Magic. The Cavs also announced that guard Daniel Gibson has been excused from the team to attend a personal matter and will miss Saturday's game.
