Monsters 5, Wolves 4 (OT)

CLEVELAND -- The Chicago Wolves rallied twice, but it was not enough as they spoiled a late-game lead and fell 5-4 in overtime against the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday afternoon at Quicken Loans Arena.

Center Mark Olver won the game for the Monsters 2:48 into overtime with a quick shot to beat Wolves goalie Matt Climie.

Lake Erie (15-12-0-3) opened up scoring 4:50 into the first period, tallying twice in 1:09 to give the Wolves (16-12-1-2) a two-goal deficit early in the game.

Monsters left wing Michael Schumacher picked up a clearing attempt as he exited the penalty box and sent the puck on net, where it deflected in off a Wolves defender.

Lake Erie did not let up as left wing Trevor Cheek snapped a shot from just inside the faceoff circle at 5:59 that Climie could not glove down in time.

At 16:41 of the first period, Chicago cut Lake Erie's lead in half. With the puck squirting free during a scrum in front of the net, right wing Sebastian Wannstrom pounced and elevated it over goaltender Calvin Pickard's glove.

After Lake Erie took back a two-goal lead with right wing J.T. Wyman's tally at 8:09, Chicago scored three goals in the second period, including two in the final 1:02. Center Keith Aucoin tallied twice, sandwiching defenseman Evan Oberg's tying goal to give Chicago its first lead of the game.

Lake Erie left wing Andrew Agozzino picked up a rolling puck and shot high through a screen to knot the score 4-4 at 18:45 of the third period to send the game to overtime.

Climie (3-6-0) finished the game with 26 saves. Pickard (8-7-2) kicked out 35.
