MLB rumors, injuries and news roundup for September 15

The Angels became the first time in baseball to clinch a postseason berth this year. There are still nine more playoff spots up for grabs with less than two weeks remaining in the season. Here is a recap of Monday's news from around the league.

RUMORS & TRANSACTIONS

Diamondbacks: 2B Aaron Hill hopes to remain with the team even though he's been losing playing time to younger players this month. (Fox Sports)

Giants: Activated 1B Brandon Belt (concussion) off the disabled list, the club announced.

Red Sox: Heavily scouting Japanese RHP Kenta Maeda, who is expected to be posted this offseason.

INJURY UPDATES

Angels: 1B Albert Pujols left Monday night's game with a left hamstring cramp ... OF Josh Hamilton (shoulder) took batting practice and hopes to return to the lineup soon. (Orange County Register)

Astros: RHP Collin McHugh left Monday's start with a forearm contusion after being hit by a comebacker, the team announced.

Dodgers: An MRI showed only inflammation in LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu's shoulder, though he is not expected to start again this season. (MLB.com)

Mets: RHP Matt Harvey (Tommy John surgery) hit 95 mph during his latest bullpen session.

Nationals: OF Bryce Harper left Monday's game with light-headedness and is day-to-day, the team announced ... 3B Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) went through a full workout on Monday and will play three innings at first base in a simulated game on Tuesday. (Nats Insider)

Twins: An MRI showed only inflammation in LHP Tommy Milone's neck. There is no structural damage. (MLB.com)

Yankees: RHP Masahiro Tanaka (elbow) threw a 65-pitch bullpen sessions and it is "very possible" he will return to the rotation this weekend.

MLB: Commissioner Bud Selig confirmed MLB and MLBPA will soon meet to discuss a domestic violence policy.

Mets: RHP Jacob deGrom tied a major league record by striking out the first eight batters he faced on Monday.

Phillies: RHP Jonathan Papelbon was suspended seven games after making an obscene gesture towards fans on Sunday. The suspension begins immediately.
