MLB roundup: Scully returns to Dodgers' broadcast booth
Famed Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully returned to the booth at Dodger Stadium on Sunday after missing five games because of a bad cold.
After broadcasting the first four games of the season, Scully, 84, got sick last weekend, and he missed the Dodgers' home opener last Tuesday for the first time in 35 years.
''In my own private world, this is my opening day,'' Scully told reporters Sunday. ''I have (Clayton) Kershaw. Ain't no bad crowd to hang around with.
''Hopefully, I'll have some fun and stop feeling sorry for myself and get back to work.''
Scully, now in his 63rd season with the Dodgers, is the longest tenured broadcaster in sports history.
He said he was ''furious'' about having to miss the four games.
Doctors had told Scully not to return to work until after the cold, rainy weather had passed.
---- The Boston Red Sox recalled outfielder Jason Repko and outfielder/infielder Nate Spears from Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday to replace injured Jacoby Ellsbury.
Repko was in the batting order Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays, scheduled to play center field and ninth in the batting order.
Ellsbury, who was hitting .192 with 3 RBIs, was lost for up to eight weeks after sustaining a partially separated right shoulder Friday on a slide at second base.
The Red Sox also designated reliever Michael Bowden for assignment, optioned outfielder Che-Hsuan Lin to Pawtucket and designated minor-league catcher Luis Exposito for assignment.
---The Colorado Rockies recalled left-handed pitcher Drew Pomeranz and optioned infielder-catcher Jordan Pacheco to Triple-A Colorado Springs, the team announced Monday.
Pomeranz went 3-0 with a 0.53 ERA in 17 innings during spring training. He was acquired last August from Cleveland and made his major-league debut on Sept. 11. He went 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA in four starts that month.
Pacheco was hitting .200 in five games this season. He had made the opening day roster after hitting .339 during spring training.
---Giants closer Brian Wilson told reporters on Sunday that he is out for the season with an elbow injury, confirming the reports of Saturday night.
He will probably have Tommy John surgery, although he will get another opinion before having the operation.
