MLB roundup: Arrests made in Dodger Stadium altercation

Four people were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon in a beating in the Dodger Stadium parking lot after Sunday night's game.

A minor accident apparently got out of hand when the driver, described as a man in his 20s, allegedly was attacked by the driver of the other vehicle and three men from another car, Los Angeles Police said Monday.

The unnamed man suffered scrapes and cuts to his face, but the injuries were not life-threatening and he was in stable condition, Sgt. Davis Armas said.

"It was just a minor fender bender that just got totally out of hand," Armas said.

The assault charge stemmed from the four men involved in the attack kicking the victim, Armas said. One of the men was slightly injured.

The victim was accompanied by a woman who was eight months' pregnant, but she was not hurt.

Dodgers security and off-duty Los Angeles police officers responded to the incident, which was the second in a year in the Dodger Stadium parking lot. After last season's opening game, San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow suffered brain damage during a beating.

--- The Texas Rangers placed right-hander Neftali Feliz on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a right elbow injury and recalled right-hander Yoshinori Tateyama from Triple-A Round Rock.

Feliz had an MRI on Monday after he felt discomfort during a 4 2/3-inning stint against the Houston Astros on Friday. The team was awaiting test results.

Scott Feldman is scheduled to start in Feliz's place on Wednesday.

--- San Diego Padres left-hander Cory Luebke is slated to undergo Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Wednesday.

Luebke, 27, opted for surgery on a partially torn ligament after he considered trying to rehab the elbow. He's expected to be out until early in the 2013 season.

He was 3-1 with a 2.61 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 31 innings over five starts.

--- The New York Mets recalled utilityman Vinny Rottino from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday and optioned right-hander Chris Schwinden to Triple-A Buffalo.

Rottino went 0 for 4 in an earlier stint with the Mets this season. In 36 games for Buffalo, he was hitting .307 with four home runs.

Schwinden has allowed 11 runs in eight innings in relief this season and was 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA for the Mets.

---The Yankees jersey worn by Babe Ruth around 1920 sold for a record $4.42 million at an auction over the weekend, according to SPC Auctions. That beat the $4.34 million for the purchase of James Naismith's 1891 typed rules of the game of basketball in 2010.

---Dodgers infielder Mark Ellis had emergency surgery Saturday that apparently was more serious that initially believed. He had blood and other fluids drained from his leg's muscles, and manager Don Mattingly told the Los Angeles Times that doctors told him that they may have been forced to amputate the leg if the condition hadn't been taken care of in six or seven hours.
