MLB clinch and elimination scenarios: Sept. 20 watch list

We're in the midst of stretch drive baseball and that means the game is now riddled with clinching and elimination scenarios, not to mention individual milestones that may be within reach. With that in mind, let's take our daily look at which of those might happen next (Saturday schedule/scoreboard).

  • The Cardinals will clinch a postseason berth with a win over the Reds AND a Pirates win over the Brewers.

  • The Marlins will be eliminated from postseason contention with a loss to the Nationals OR a Pirates win over the Brewers.

  • Derek Jeter needs one more run to move into sole possession of tenth place on the all-time runs scored list. He is currently tied with Alex Rodriguez (1,919).

  • Francisco Rodriguez is one save away from tying Randy Myers for tenth place on the all-time saves list with 347.

  • Nelson Cruz is sitting on 39 home runs for the season. Albert Pujols has 98 RBI.

Here's how the playoff picture looks as of Saturday morning.

As a reminder, the AL East (Orioles), NL East (Nationals) and AL West (Angels) division titles have already been clinched. The Dodgers have also clinched a postseason berth, though the NL West remains undecided.
