Count Tim Miles as a believer in Michigan’s improvement and tournament readiness.

The Nebraska coach spoke following his team’s 93-57 obliteration by the Wolverines Sunday night in Lincoln. Not unexpectedly, he gave the visitors their due.

“I thought they were terrific,” Miles said. “They ran their stuff and obviously the way they came out and set the tone, making what felt like every shot in sight.

Miles quipped that he regretted voting prior to the game for Michigan senior guard Derrick Walton Jr. as a first-team All-Big Ten performer, because of the bad karma it brought about for his crew. Walton tossed in 18 points with a career-record 16 assists.

“You just have to credit Michigan,” Miles said. “They were so good.”

He spoke about a “defeatism” on his own team at this point, expressing concern about the lack of a competitive mindset. He described his own group as a team “walking around ready to get hit by lightning.”

The Cornhuskers certainly were thunderstruck by Michigan, which ran off 14 straight point following Nebraska’s game-opening bucket. The Wolverines never looked back, raining down 14 three-pointers and shooting 63 percent overall from the field.

Nebraska forward Isaiah Roby noted the Cornhuskers could definitely feel the Wolverines take control of the game.

“We couldn’t ever get a string of stops put together,” he said. “It felt like we were kind of defeated. Every time they made a shot, it took our whole team morale down.

“When they just started getting shot after shot after shot, it kind of took a toll on our team as a whole.”
