I know, I know. Some say it isn’t possible, others say it could never happen. However, I am here today to reassure all Miami Dolphins’ fans that not only was it possible, it has indeed happened. The Miami Dolphins for the first time in many years, appear to now have a competitive offensive line.

With the addition of Laremy Tunsil in the first round of the most recent NFL Draft, the Dolphins now have three extremely talented players that can play at the tackle position. In the case of Tunsil, it looks certain that the former Ole Miss star will be beginning his NFL career at the guard position in place of the much maligned Dallas Thomas.

Heading to Tunsil’s eventual starting position at left tackle, we will find Branden Albert. An extremely talented veteran tackle, Albert has had a very successful career as a left tackle in the NFL. Though the 31-year old’s days at the position look to be nearing an end, Albert is still one of the top ten tackles in the NFL when he is healthy.

On the opposite side of the line, former first round pick Ja’Waun James has carved out a nice niche along the right side of the Miami Dolphins offensive line. A left tackle during his time at the University of Tennessee, James has adjusted well to his starting role on the right side of the line.

Centering the Miami Dolphins line, we also find a pro-bowl player in Mike Pouncey. Coming out of the University of Florida, Pouncey has adjusted well to the center position despite playing his first three years in college as a guard. Despite his high snap “yips” that he re-developed last season — he also had this problem as a center in college — I expect him to regain his top form this season.

Even at the right guard position the Miami Dolphins have found a way to improve. Signing free agent guard Jemon Bushrod this past spring now gives the Dolphins an obvious answer at the position. With all the talent now available, it is no wonder Mike Pouncey called this the best offensive line of the Ryan Tannehill era.
