Mets not planning to demote 1B Davis

New York Mets first baseman Ike Davis is batting only .156 in 39 games this season, but he was assured by general manager Sandy Alderson that he will not be sent to the minors.

Newsday reported that Alderson approached Davis after he went hitless in four at-bats Saturday and let him know a demotion is not imminent.

Davis told reporters that he has a month to turn around his season before such a move is made.

Davis also had a slow start last year before turning it around. In the second half of the 2012 season, Davis batted .255 with 20 home runs and 41 RBI in his last 75 games.
