Megan Gustafson of South Shore is the Wisconsin scoring queen now.

University of Iowa signee Megan Gustafson put her name atop the career girls basketball scoring list in Wisconsin last Monday when she tallied 46 points in a victory for South Shore (Port Wing, Wis.) over Chequamegon. But the record is staying on the same campus.

The senior forward finished the contest with 2,917 career points, according to wissports.net, breaking the record of 2,881 previously held by 2004 graduate Jolene Anderson, who moved on to the University of Wisconsin after her career at South Shore.

A free throw in the second quarter propelled Gustafson over the hump to earn the record. At 6-foot-3, she leads the state in scoring (38.8) and rebounding (19.1), her coach told the website.

The National Federation of State High School Associations lists players with more than 3,000 career points in its national record book. Sixty-seven players are listed, and it appears that Gustafson is on her way to getting on the list.
