Manny Gamburyan Drops to Bantamweight, Fights Cody Gibson at UFC 178

Manny Gamburyan will drop a weight class for his next fight, agreeing to face Cody Gibson in a bantamweight bout at UFC 178, an official confirmed to MMAWeekly.com on Friday.

The Gamburyan vs. Gibson bout adds to the developing fight card, which takes place Sept. 27 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The Glendale News-Press first reported the bout.

Gamburyan (13-8) hasn't seen a win in his last two outings. In his last bout, the Armenian fighter dropped a unanimous decision to Nik Lentz. Previous to the Lentz loss, Gamburyan originally lost a unanimous decision to Dennis Siver, but the result was changed to a no-contest when Siver failed his post-fight drug test.

Gibson (12-4) comes into affair fresh off a first-round finish. At UFC Fight Night San Antonio, Gibson earned a technical knockout of Johnny Bedford. The win was his first in the Octagon.

UFC 178 is scheduled to be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier.
