Manchester United clinched the English Premier League title on Monday with nearly a month still left in the season with a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa,

Robin van Persie had a hat trick for Manchester United, which ensued its 20th league title. It regained the top spot after being supplanted by Manchester City last season.

United is 16 points ahead of second-place City. This is the earliest a team has clinched the Premier League title since United won it in 2001.
