Magic set to move forward without Howard

Knowing the odds really are stacked against them now without Dwight Howard, the Orlando Magic players are having T-shirts printed with their new slogan: "We all we got," a line taken from the 1991 movie "New Jack City."

"It's kind of a one-for-all, all-for-one mentality," said forward Glen Davis, who proposed the new motto this weekend. "It puts us in a frame of mind of just brotherhood. We have to take care of each other now."

Howard, the team's best player and the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, missed his seventh consecutive game Saturday when the Magic lost in overtime at Utah, 117-107. It was the Magic's first game since his teammates learned he definitely wasn't coming back.

Howard had surgery Friday to repair the herniated disk in his lower back, and will need three to four months before he can play basketball again.

The Magic play again Sunday night in Denver. They remain in the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference, needing only one more victory to secure a first-round matchup against the Pacers or Hawks.

The Magic played well in Utah, leading by as many as 11 points in the second half. They had a chance to win in regulation, but Jameer Nelson had his shot blocked just before the buzzer by Devon Harris.

Orlando had all five starters reach double-figure scoring. Nelson had 23 points and 11 assists.
