Lions place Brandon Pettigrew on injured reserve, re-sign Michael Spurlock

The Detroit Lions placed tight end Brandon Pettigrew on injured reserve due to an ankle injury.

They claimed kick returner Michael Spurlock off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys, his second stint with the team this season.

Pettigrew caught 41 passes for 416 yards and two touchdowns.

Pettigrew is an unrestricted free agent in March.

With him sidelined, rookie Joseph Fauria will start.
