Lattimore confirms he's turning pro

Running back Marcus Lattimore confirmed at a press conference on Wednesday what had been reported earlier - that he will be leaving South Carolina for the NFL.

Lattimore, a junior, announced he has decided to forego his remaining season of eligibility at South Carolina to play professionally.

It's unclear whether he will try to play in the NFL in 2013, however.

Lattimore suffered a major knee injury on Oct. 27 when he dislocated his kneecap and tore three major ligaments.

He also suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2011.

Lattimore is unlikely to be able to participate fully in the physical aspects of the NFL's Scouting Combine, and he may be forced to sit out the 2013 season.
