KHL player throws stick like javelin for breakaway goal (Video)
Ak Bars Kazan forward Vladimir Tkachyov got into the Olympic spirit during a recent skills competition breakaway contest.
Tkachyov decided to attempt a javelin type throw with the puck attached to his stick at the net for the goal. The goaltender seemed to half-heartedly try to catch the stick with his glove, but was unable to do so.
The most impressive part of the goal was how Tkachyov got the puck to stick to the blade on his backhand, then flipped the stick over before tossing it in the goal.

Unfortunately for Tkachyov, throwing a stick is quite illegal, so this move probably won’t catch on soon.
The trick play was reportedly done at a team event for fans.
It included other fun moments such as this between-the-legs goal by forward Fyodor Malykhin. Note the massive helmet Malykhin is wearing – which likely distracted the netminder.

Where does Tykahyov’s goal rank as far as top goals this year? It certainly ranks high as far as creativity.
