Jim Grobe resigning as Wake Forest coach

Longtime Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe will announce his resignation Monday afternoon, sources told Yahoo Sports.

The school called a press conference for 4:15 p.m. ET. Grobe met with the players to inform them at 3:30 p.m. ET, sources said.

Wake was 4-8 this year, its fifth straight losing season after three straight winning seasons from 2006-08. That run included an 11-3 record, ACC championship and berth in the Orange Bowl in 2006. But Grobe couldn't sustain that success.

Grobe's all-time record at the school was 77-82.

The success of perennial lightweight Duke, which is 10-2 and won the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference, undoubtedly increased the pressure on Grobe and others this season.
