Injured Hall could miss rest of Redskins' camp

Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall injured his right ankle in Monday's practice and could miss the rest of training camp.

Coach Mike Shanahan said Tuesday, when Hall appeared at practice in a walking boot, that the injury was "that serious right now."

But Hall later said he'd be keeping the immobilizing boot and not sporting cleats for about two weeks, when the Redskins break camp in Richmond and return to their Ashburn, Va., facility.

With defensive end Adam Carriker (knee), defensive end Jarvis Jenkins (four-game suspension) and linebacker Keenan Robinson (torn pectoral) expected to miss significant time, Washington couldn't afford another major injury to a key defensive player. Hall, released in a salary-cap driven move, re-signed and is considered the No. 1 cornerback in Jim Haslett's defense.

Hall was injured in a one-on-one drill Monday when undrafted free agent Skye Dawson juked him and Hall went down.

"He ran a great route," Hall said. "Coming out of my break, something just gave out."

Hall said tests on his Achilles showed no damage and the ligaments in his right ankle weren't torn.
