Ian Mahinmi suffers offseason shoulder injury

Pacers center Ian Mahinmi suffered a shoulder injury while practicing with the French national team in August, and could end up missing up to three months as a result.

However, Mahinmi told VigilantSports.com the injury is not as serious as initially thought, as he will not require surgery. At this point, there is no concrete timetable for his return to action, though he has been cleared to lift weights.

Mahinmi could be ready by the start of the season. He has mostly avoided injuries in recent seasons, missing just 12 games over the last three seasons. He averaged 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game a year ago.
