Huskers make second in-state offer of the week to Lincoln East lineman

Nebraska head coach Mike Riley and his staff have ramped things up on the in-state recruiting trail this week.

On Thursday Riley and the Huskers offered and landed a verbal commit from Bellevue (Neb.) West running back Jaylin Bradley. On Friday, Riley made his second in-state offer of the week to Lincoln (Neb.) East lineman Chris Walker.

The 6-foot-6, 280 pound Walker has been committed to Wyoming since November, and he told HuskerOnline on Friday he remains a commit to the Cowboys at this point.

"Coach Riley called me tonight and offered me a scholarship," Walker said. "I will take an official visit there later this month, but I've already told Coach Bohl tonight I still remain committed to Wyoming."

Walker will visit NU on the weekend of January 20. He was obviously very excited to receive the offer from Nebraska, but also has a lot of respect for Wyoming and the way Bohl and his staff have heavily recruited him since the spring.

Walker added the Huskers are recruiting him as an athlete, and he'll have the option to play either offense or defense.

As a senior, Walker was regarded as the most dominant lineman in the state, leading Lincoln East to the Class A semifinals. He was a consensus All-Nebraska player by both the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star.

"This is all very exciting," Walker said. "I'm going to take some time now to really think about things."
