There are few surprises in the Texans depth chart, and Coach Bill O’Brien will certainly change things. The quarterback position is locked down by Brock Oswieler, while Lamar Miller and Alfred Blue are set in the running back spots. At wide receiver, Cecil Shorts III holds down second spot behind DeAndre Hopkins, followed by rookie Braxton Miller. Fellow rookie wide receiver and first-round pick Will Fuller is also third on the depth chart behind Jaelen Strong and Keith Mumphery. Pending performances, it is hopeful that Fuller will move up to at least the third receiver role.

The main question with the offense will be who starts on the offense line and can they stay healthy. As expected, second round pick Nick Martin is slated as the starter at center, ahead of Tom Bergstrom. Both are in their first year with the team, as Bergstrom was signed away from the Oakland Raider, where he played in all 16 games but only started three. Both starting tackles, Duane Brown and Derek Newton, are currently on the injured list so the opening snaps should go to Chris Clark and Jeff Adams.

The defense. Well, the defense looks solid. The area of most concern is the healthy and focus of linebacker Jadeveon Clowney. The college standout has only played in 17 games over his two season, including seven starts. The Texans defense could be scary if Clowney turn potential into performance.
