Giants' lineman Ereck Flowers shoves reporter after loss in Green Bay

After their 23-16 loss to the Green Bay Packers, a loss that dropped the New York Giants to 2-3 on the season and last place in the NFC East, things apparently got a little testy in the Giants’ locker room, at least between one player and reporter.

Left tackle Ereck Flowers shoved ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan when Raanan was trying to be part of a group of reporters interviewing the 2015 first-round pick.

Here’s what happened, according to NJ.com:

Flowers was being interviewed by two reporters in front of his locker stall when Raana approached. Upon noticing Raanan, Flowers interrupted a question and told Raanan he wasn’t welcome.

Flowers: “Hey, get out my face man. Don’t come over here.”

When Raanan didn’t move, Flowers moved his face close to the reporter’s and asked, “You hear me?”

Raanan: “I’m just trying to do my job.”

Flowers: “Go over there.”

Raanan: “I’m just trying to do my job.”

Flowers: “Get the (expletive) out of my face, bro.

Raanan: “I’m just trying to do my job.”

Flowers then said, “Go over there, man,” as he shoved Raanan.

Flowers shoved Raanan with his left hand, and with enough force that the reporter had to take a few steps backward.

It’s unclear why Flowers was okay to talk with the first two reporters but had a problem with Raanan.

Flowers had a bad game against the Packers, giving up a sack and several pressures plus drew a holding penalty.

Raanan would not comment to NJ.com about the incident. Asked about it on Twitter, he downplayed it:

Update: Giants coach Ben McAdoo told reporters on Monday afternoon that Flowers had called Raanan to apologize and that the team will discipline the offensive lineman.

He understands he can’t behave that way. It’s unacceptable…,” McAdoo said. “All discipline will be handled in-house.”
