Pro Bowl cornerback Cortland Finnegan(notes) walked out of Tennessee Titans training camp Friday night after the team failed to follow through on what he believed was a promise to restructure his contract, two sources said Saturday.

Finnegan and agent Terry Watson told the team before training camp that Finnegan wanted a new contract or wanted to be traded to a team willing to give him a new deal. Titans head coach Mike Munchak, defensive coordinator Jerry Gray and secondary coach Marcus Robertson all encouraged Finnegan to report to camp, indicating to him that the team would respond positively to his request for a new contract if he reported.

Instead, Finnegan is now the second Titans player in a contract dispute with the team. Pro Bowl running back Chris Johnson is also holding out in pursuit of a new contract.

Finnegan, 27, is scheduled to make $3.7 million this season, the final year of a four-year contract extension he signed before the 2008 season – his third in the league. That figure includes a $500,000 performance bonus he earned last season.
