Evil Geniuses has signed Super Smash Bros. for Wii U player Julian “Zinoto” Carrington.

Zinoto is a Diddy Kong main and is currently ranked 16th in the Panda Global Rankings. Last year, Zinoto finished second at CEO 2016 and 17th Super Smash Con and 2GGT: Zero Saga. His best results in 2017 include placing ninth at 2GGC: Midwest Mayhem Saga and seventh at Frostbite 2017.

“The biggest thing I love about esports is the opportunity to interact with so many different communities and people. A lot of people immerse themselves in communities like the FGC, Smash, etc. to escape the ones they have to deal with in real life, if even for only a small time,” Zinoto said in a statement on Evil Geniuses’ website.

“People find new identities in their gamertags where they can be the person they are normally to afraid to be, which is what I try to promote. Being sponsored means I can reach a broader audience in sharing my knowledge, passion, and drive with other people all across every esports gaming community.”

Zinoto is Evil Geniuses’ first Smash 4 player, joining one of the “Five Gods of Melee,” Kevin “PPMD” Nanney, on the Smash roster.

“Smash is a scene I’ve had my eye on for a long time. Some people compare it to FGC but from what I’ve learned it’s totally unique. I grew up playing Smash and am thrilled that we have the opportunity to pick up Zinoto who I know will be an incredibly positive influence in the space,” Evil Geniuses CEO Peter “PPD” Dager said on the team’s website.

Zinoto follows the signing of Street Fighter V and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 pro Christopher “NYChrisG” Gonzalez after the team lost Justin Wong, Yusuke Momochi, and Yuko “ChocoBlanka” Momochi to Echo Fox.

He will be attending 2GGC: Civil War, which starts Friday. You can check out our in-depth breakdowns on high profile match-ups, including ANTi vs. Zinoto, VoiD vs. Mr. R, Mr. E vs MKLeo, Nairo vs Dabuz, and ZeRo vs Ally.
