Ducks 3, Devils 2 (OT)
NEWARK, N.J. -- Right wing Kyle Palmieri scored with 2:23 remaining in overtime to give the Anaheim Ducks a 3-2 victory against the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night at Prudential Center.
Palmieri's fifth of the season was the result of an explosive move down the right wing that led to a wraparound attempt that rode up the stick of Devils defenseman Jon Merrill and into the top of the net.
The Ducks have now won seven in a row, the longest current winning streak in the NHL.
The regulation goals were scored by defenseman Cam Fowler and center Mathieu Perreault of the Ducks and right wing Michael Ryder and defenseman Andy Greene of the Devils.
Ducks right wing Teemu Selanne had two assists.
Goaltender Jonas Hiller of the Ducks stopped 19 shots while goaltender Cory Schneider made 21 saves for the Devils.
After a scoreless first period, Ryder's 10th goal of the season gave the Devils a 1-0 lead at 4:15. Left wing Adam Henrique backhanded a pass over a defender's stick and onto the blade of Ryder, who beat Hiller to the glove side.
The Ducks drew even at 14:06 of the period when Fowler ripped his fourth goal of the season from the left faceoff circle by a screened Schneider.
Perreault's sixth of the season was set up by Palmieri, who drove around Devils defenseman Marek Zidlicky and passed the puck to the crease. The puck hit off the skate of Devils defenseman Eric Gelinas and bounced right to Perreault, who buried it at 10:47 of the third period.
Greene tied the score at 2 with his sixth goal of the season, a power-play goal with 5:02 remaining in regulation. He one-touched a gorgeous pass from right wing Jaromir Jagr to help send the game to overtime.
NOTES: With Ducks RW Teemu Selanne retiring after the season, this is very likely the last time he and Devils RW Jaromir Jagr will play against each other. They could meet in the Olympics, but Finland and the Czech Republic are not in the same group in Sochi. ... Devils RW Damien Brunner left the game in the first period with a right knee injury and did not return. ... Devils D Bryce Salvador, who has been out since Oct. 22 with a fractured foot, took part in the team's morning skate and will travel to Washington for Saturday's game against the Capitals. ... The same can be said for LW Ryane Clowe, who has missed all but six games this season with a concussion.
