Delaware State 57, Coppin State 43

DOVER, Dela. -- Two reserves came off the bench to combine for 27 points, leading host Delaware State to a 57-43 victory over Coppin State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Saturday at Memorial Hall.

Sophomore guard Tahj Tate posted 14 points, five rebounds and four assists for Delaware State (11-13, 6-4 MEAC), which had lost two in a row and three of its last four. Sophomore forward Tyshawn Bell had 13 points in 16 minutes.

Sophomore guard Taariq Cephas had 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals for Coppin State (5-21, 2-9), which has lost six in a row and 12 of 14.

Junior forward Michael Murray had 10 points and nine rebounds, just missing his 10th double-double of the season.

Delaware State held a slim 24-22 lead at the break but pulled away in the second half. The Hornets shot 43.1 percent from the field, made 9 of 23 from 3-point range and amassed a 30-21 rebounding advantage. The Eagles shot 39.1 percent from the field and made 5 of 15 from beyond the arc.
