Charleston settles with fired coach Doug Wojcik for $400K

More than 10 weeks after the first report of abuse allegations came out, the Doug Wojcik rigmarole is completely over at College of Charleston.

Multiple reports on Tuesday have the school and its former coach agreeing to terms of his termination. Wojcik was alleged to have made repeated verbally abusive actions toward Charleston players last season.

He was fired by Charleston six weeks ago and replaced on Sept. 2 by former Clemson assistant Earl Grant. Grant is a Charleston native.

The terms of the settlement amount to approximately a year's worth of salary for Wojcik, who had three years left on his deal. But it's not all an easy out for Wojcik; as Andrew Miller of the Post and Courier notes, the former Charleston coach will have to pay all those billable hours to his lawyer.

As for the school ...

An open-records request by the Associated Press uncovered the financial terms of the split, which was official as of last week. Those terms also included a preclusion of Wojcik ever suing Charleston over this matter.
