Chargers sign Lynch, Malone, Trautwein

Strong safety Corey Lynch, punter Robert Malone and tackle Phil Trautwein signed with the Chargers.

Lynch was a sixth-round pick by the Bengals in 2008 who spent the past three seasons with Tampa Bay. He has only 53 career tackles and three interceptions, but also has 37 career tackles on special teams. He was second on the Bucs with seven special teams tackles in 2011.

Malone also played for Tampa Bay in 2010, averaging 41.5 yards on 52 punts, including 17 downed inside the 20-yard line, but was released before the start of last season. He appeared in one game for Detroit in 2011 as an injury replacement for Ryan Donahue.

Malone is likely only an extra leg to help keep Mike Scifres fresh through the offseason and potentially training camp.

Trautwein is a journeyman reserve tackle who has spent time with Cleveland, St. Louis and New Orleans. He was on the Saints' practice squad for the final eight weeks of last season.
