Buffalo Bills potential first round draft picks

Despite ending the season much sooner than anyone would have wanted, it is now time to turn our attention to most fans second most favorite time of year. The NFL Draft. For the Buffalo Bills, this will also be the first big strikes for Sean McDermott as he begins his tenure as the head coach in Buffalo.

In need of help on both sides of the football, the Buffalo Bills first round draft pick could be anyone’s guess at the moment. While the quarterback position looks to be sorted, the team is still in need of help at multiple positions including cornerback, wide receiver, and offensive line.

With the Draft now just over two months away, I know it may be a little early to be looking towards the draft. All that remains left in the evaluation process is the combine and individual workouts for certain players. After that, we will be in Philadelphia for the draft. So without further ado, we present week six of the “Buffalo Bills potential first round draft picks.”

3. Mike Williams — Wide Receiver — Clemson

Tyrod Taylor will now likely remain a member of the Buffalo Bills for next season. With this news now gaining steam, it has become extremely unlikely that the Bills will use a first round pick on a quarterback. With that position likely dead at this point, all of our other picks slide up a spot, opening this number three spot to be used on a wide receiver.

With Robert Woods becoming a free agent this offseason, the Buffalo Bills will need a receiver to pair with Sammy Watkins. Who better than Clemson standout Mike Williams. Such a pick would continue the Bills recent trend towards selecting Clemson products in the first round and would also pair Williams with former Clemson star Sammy Watkins.

Considering Williams draft stock has fallen a bit in recent weeks, he does remain as the best receiver in this draft class. While some do see him falling out of the top ten, the fact that the Bills will need a receiver to pair with Watkins makes this pick one of my top selections for this team as they go forward.

2. Marshon Lattimore — Cornerback — Ohio State

Though some see Marshon Lattimore as the best cornerback in this draft class, others see him as the second best behind only Marlon Humphrey. If there are enough of the latter making draft picks inside the top ten, Lattimore could fall to the Buffalo Bills pick at number ten.

In need of a cornerback with Stephon Gilmore unlikely to return next season, the Bills could possibly wait till the second round given the depth of this year’s cornerback class. However, Lattimore is someone that presents more than a few options for this team. Possessing the ball hawk mentality, Lattimore is a straight athlete.

Capable of being left on his own once he develops a little more, Lattimore will be a number one cornerback in this league before too long. Should he fall to the Buffalo Bills at pick number ten, I would hope that they would not only select him but make the delivery boy in Philadelphia run that pick to the podium.

1. Ryan Ramczyk — Offensive Tackle — Wisconsin

In need of some offensive line help especially in the depth department, the Buffalo Bills could be tempted to select offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk. Ramczyk would also serve as an upgrade at the right tackle position for the Bills, something that will only serve to help the offense as a whole next season.

One of the best left tackles in college football last season, Ramczyk had a different college career than most. Attending UW-Stevens Point for his first two years, Ramczyk sat out his junior year when he transferred to the University of Wisconsin. However, that season off did nothing to damper his on field performances.

With hip surgery upcoming for Ramczyk, his draft status could drop if any complications are had or if the recovery time takes longer than expected. That said, Ramczyk should be available when the Bills pick. Heck, given his drop in draft stock, the Bills could even trade down a bit and still end up with their man.
