Bruins practice cancelled

The Boston Bruins announced that Friday's practice was cancelled as authorities search for the missing suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing.

Boston is in lockdown because of the manhunt.

It is not yet clear how this will affect the Bruins' game Friday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

An NHL source told SI.com that the league is "closely monitoring the situation."

Both teams were planning to wear special patches on their sweaters to be auctioned off after the game, with all proceeds going toward assisting bombing victims.

If the game is postponed, it could create scheduling problems for the NHL. The league has already been extended one day because of postponements after Monday's bombing in Boston.

Monday's game between the Bruins and Ottawa Senators was moved the April 28. The Stanley Cup playoffs are scheduled to start April 30. The Bruins (24-18-2) head into Friday at No. 4 in the Eastern Conference standings.
