Bruins' Horton considered day to day
Boston Bruins right winger Nathan Horton is listed as day to day after suffering an injury in the first overtime of the Stanley Cup Finals opener on Wednesday night.
Although the team has not said what the injury is, WEEI radio in Boston reports Horton's problem is a dislocated shoulder. He's been having treatment on it throughout the playoffs.
Horton, who plays on the first line, was shoved in front of Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford by defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson, bent over in pain and skated to the bench. He didn't return to the game, which Chicago won 4-3 in three overtimes.
Horton had an assist on Boston's first goal in the first period. In 17 playoff games this year, he has seven goals, 18 points and a league-best plus-22 rating.
"You look at what he's accomplished and he's a big part of our team," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "He had a big assist on the (Milan) Lucic goal on Wednesday. He's listed day to day right now, so we'll see. .. Keep our fingers crossed .. and hope he's back in the next game."
If Horton is unavailable for Game 2 on Saturday night in Chicago, the Bruins will be forced to shuffle their lines. Forward Tyler Seguin joined the top line after Horton exited.
"I thought Tyler played well," Julien said. "This is an opportunity for him and I expect him to make the most of it."
Horton missed the Bruins' last five regular-season game with an upper-body injury after a fight with Pittsburgh's Jarome Iginla in April.
