Browns place Fujita on IR with career-threatening injury

Cleveland Browns linebacker Scott Fujita won't play this season after being placed on injured reserve with a neck injury that could threaten his career.

Fujita hasn't played this season, and his status with the league is uncertain because of the unsettled suspension he's scheduled to appeal at a hearing Oct. 30 in the never-ending bounty scandal drama.

Fujita, who played for the Saints before signing with the Cleveland Browns as a free agent, missed 16 of 39 games since coming to Ohio. He said he plans to continue to fight to clear his name, even if his 11-year career is over.

Fujita was given a three-game suspension for his alleged role in the pay-for-performance scandal as a member of the Saints. But he has denied participating in that so-called bounty system and criticized commissioner Roger Goodell for abusing his power.
